I’m currently reading Ainslie MacLeod’s The Instruction.
One of my good friends recommended the book a while back, but you know how everything happens in Divine Timing… so I ended up only getting my hands on it recently.
There’s a lot of information in it that I find helpful personally, and I’ve already had a few realizations even though I’m only a little bit past the halfway mark. I’d say it’s certainly worth taking a look at if you are intent on living a meaningful life.
…that is, a meaningful life according to your soul, and not what anyone who doesn’t share your life path insists on. :)
I love Gregg Braden’s work. It has been very helpful to me in terms of living a much healthier and abundant life in many ways.
Gregg Braden speaking about our ability to heal ourselves and others.
“Gregg Braden presents a video showing cancer being cured in less than 3 minutes using the language of emotion. Using the technology of emotion that’s inside all of us and mirror that expectation to the field that’s all around us. You must feel the feeling as if it has already happened.”
Currently reading The Spontaneous Healing of Belief: Shattering the Paradigm of False Limits by Gregg Braden.
I really needed these reminders and feel much more uplifted prior to cracking the book open.
It is to me at this point in my life what The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield and Ask and It Is Given by Jerry and Esther Hicks were to me in my college years.
Are you going through a spiritual awakening, or have begun to experience one? If so, here is a video I came across that you may enjoy.
This is the deck of cards I’ve been using to give readings since 1997. It isn’t the only one I use—as I enjoy angel, fairy, and goddess cards too—but I just personally find them un-cryptic to read as compared to a lot of other decks I’ve tried.
If you are new to consciously exploring metaphysical matters, and are open to broadening your spiritual horizons, I wrote an entry a while back in my other blog that you might like to read HERE.
Medical Astrology
Astrology has long been used in the medical professions for the diagnosis of illness and to identify potential illness. Nicholas Culpeper (1616-1654) the famous herbalist and physician used astrology alongside his herbal medicines. The birthchart would be used for the diagnosis and Culpeper would treat the illness appropriately. He is known as saying, “Only astrologers are fit to study medicine and a medical man without astrology is like a lamp without oil”
According to the ancients, a planet posited in a particular sign can indicate a weakness, which subject to the right conditions, can manifest into injury, illness or even fatality. It largely depends on the aspects between the planets in the natal chart and the transits triggering them off. For instance, Saturn being posited in the sign of Capricorn and therefore in its dignity as it is ruler of that sign, could show a predisposition to ailments and injuries affecting the bones.
The signs of the zodiac each represent an area of the body, starting with Aries ruling the head, taurus ruling the throat area and so on. The signs continue down the body in their natural order ending with Pisces ruling the feet.
The Natal Chart and Medical Astrology
The main points to be taken into consideration when studying a natal chart from a medical perspective are:
The Sun Sign - this is the life force so naturally very important. The sun’s placement usually shows a weak spot, as in Aries rules the head, Taurus the throat and so on. This applies more so if the Sun is in any way afflicted.
The Moon - the flowing of the life force throughout the body, the fluids which help maintain the body. Also the emotional well-being. The moon is particularly important in the charts of women as it represents all aspects of the female cycles and motherhood. The moon also represents a weak spot regarding health, especially if afflicted.
If either the sun or the moon are afflicted, it will be of the nature of the afflicting planet and affect the bodily areas governed by the sign of the afflicting planet as well as those of the sun and/or moon.
The Ascendant - this rules the body as a whole, its appearance and general well-being. Planets afflicting, i.e. in square or opposition or malefic planets conjunct, often show potential harm or illness that can be triggered by transits.
The Sixth House - this is the house of health, naturally associated with Virgo. The sign on its cusp and its ruling planet is the ruler of health within the birthchart. Planets placed in this house also describe the health and potential illness or accidents. The planet ruling the sign on the cusp of the sixth house will show by its position in the birthchart another weak spot. For example, Capricorn being on the cusp of the sixth house, which is ruled by Saturn, and Saturn being posited in the sign of Pisces shows a likelihood of ailments concerning the feet. Similarly the sign on the cusp itself may show this as in Capricorn ruling the bones and skin.
Aspects to these chart points indicate the likely nature of an illness or of treatment and cure. That is to say that by aspect it can be seen what might be useful to do to ward off ill-health or to provide some sort of cure.
The Decumbiture Chart in Medical Astrology
This is a special kind of chart that is erected based upon the location and time of the onset of illness or injury. It can be used on its own as the chart of the illness for diagnosis and treatment or alongside the birthchart just like a transit chart. The techniques applied to a decumbiture chart are very much the same as those applied in Horary and Electional Astrology.
The Houses in the Decumbiture Chart
In a decumbiture chart the attention is focused on five of the houses in particular. They are:
Ascendant/1st house: the patient’s body, general health and vitality
6th house: the patient’s disease or injury
7th house: the judgement of the physician or whoever may be attending the patient
8th house: the patient’s death
10th house: remedies necessary or appropriate
It is the planetary rulers of these houses that become the significators for each thing.
Also of importance, as in Horary Astrology, is the Moon. As the moon rules the bodily fluids, it represents the flow of the vital life force (the sun) throughout the body. The moon by its motion shows what is happening as it first aspects one planet then another, and by this can show the course of an illness, its treatment and eventual outcome.
Finding the Relevant Significators - The Planets
Only the traditional seven planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) are used in this kind of medical astrology.
The significator of the patient is the ruler of the sign on the Ascendant. For example: if the ascendant/rising sign is Gemini, the significator will be Mercury as it is the ruling planet of that sign. Mercury would therefore represent the patient and the condition of their general health depending on its placement and aspects received.
The significator of the patient’s disease or injury will be the ruler of the sign on the cusp of the sixth house. For example: if the sign occupying the cusp of the sixth house is Scorpio, the significator will be Mars as it is the ruling planet of that sign (traditionally, before the discovery of Pluto and now co-ruler). Mars is associated with heat and therefore feverish conditions, inflammations etc. and by its placement can pinpoint the area of concern. By the condition of Mars in regard to dignity, it is possible to ascertain the seriousness of the illness or injury.
Each of the relevant significators are found as described above. The sequence of the twelve houses are linked with the natural order of the zodiac signs and with regards to anatomy, are so linked with the parts of the body. Therefore a significator for a part of the body will be the ruler of whatever sign happens to be on the cusp of the appropriate house.
For example: the significator of the knees (governed by Capricorn) will be the ruling planet of the sign on the 10th house cusp (naturally Capricorn’s house). If Aries should be on the 10th house cusp, the significator would be Mars (ruler of Aries). Therefore Mars would be the significator for the knees.
Strength of Planets
Once the relevant significators have been located the next consideration is their strength. For ease of reference a chart showing the relative strengths and weaknesses is below. The Strength of the planets depends on whether they are in or have dignity. There are lesser dignities by term and face as in Horary and Electional Astrology. Should you wish to go deeper into this, there is a link to the appropriate page for tables of these dignities at the bottom of this page.
Essential Dignities - please see table below
Dignity - a planet in the sign that it rules and therefore strong.
Exaltation - a planet in the sign where it is strong - this can act like an exaggeration.
Detriment - a planet in the sign that is opposite to the one it rules and therefore weak.
Fall - a planet in the sign that is opposite its exaltation and therefore weak.
Look at the general condition of the patient by locating their significator and ascertaining its strength. i.e. is the Ascendant ruler strong by sign or debilitated?
Assess the energy level of the patient by looking at the condition of the Sun, symbolic of the life force and general vitality.
Assess the emotional level of the patient by looking at the condition of the Moon, as that will show the ability to cope with the emotional side of the illness as well as the general flow of the life force.
Aspects between the Ascendant ruler and the malefic planets of Mars or Saturn indicate a weakening of the patient’s vitality. If the Ascendant ruler is retrograde, this also indicates a weakening. Aspects between the Ascendant ruler and the benefic planets of Venus or Jupiter indicate a strengthening of the patient’s vitality.
Indicators of which side of the body is affected:
The Eastern Hemisphere of the chart (i.e. the Ascendant side) shows the left side and indicates the left hand, arm, leg or whatever. The Western Hemisphere of the chart (i.e. the Descendant side) shows the right side and indicates the right hand, arm, leg or whatever.
Treatments
As was the basis of Culpeper’s practice the main treatment linked to medical astrology is with herbal remedies. Every plant and herb comes under the rulership of a particular planet. Illness associated with a particular planet was treated by a remedy using a plant or herb associated with the same planet. Often two or more plants or herbs were used according to their properties to relieve the symptoms associated with the illness as well as treat the illness itself….

I’ve been sleeping really well lately, with the help of this CD by Doreen Virtue. It’s called Angel Medicine.
I’ve tried several similar programs, but haven’t felt as rested as I do when this is on loop on the iPod at bedtime. Keep the volume on low so it’s loud enough for your subconscious mind to hear, but not disturbing so you actually wake up several times throughout the night.
Just thought I’d put out an option for anyone who might want a safe and natural way to sleep better. I hope you find something that works for you.
…How you perceive is what you’ll achieve.

Animals in Dreams
Some of my recurring dreams all throughout my life involve animals.
I thought this could be a pretty useful post for those who want to get deeper into dream interpretation.
Animals in dreams represent our feelings unedited by cultural and social limits. Animals appearances are symbols of survival energy. Dreaming animals translate the voice of our inner wisdom, our real selves.
Wild Animals
Wild animals - Tapping into a pool of inner strength previously unavailable to will. Strength gathered before storm. Survival drive. Inner wisdom - unedited by social or personal limits. Attaining freedom to be Your real self.
Attacked by wild animals - Malign emotions and aggression toward us. Departure of Totem power or departure of harmony within ourselves.
—
Domestic animals
Domestic animals - Learned values implemented in life. Successfully meeting the needs of Your daily life. Attaining resourceful views, using all at the hand to grow.
—
Animals - domestic, wild
Wounded animal - Unwise submission, withdrawal from Your inner wisdom.
Baby Animals - Feelings about pregnancy and children. Desire for children. Memories concerning childhood. Your stand on being dependent or nourished.
Animal skin - Shamanic symbol of attaining wisdom and power of that animal. May also represent opposite - sacrifice altars coming uninvited in our lives.

Notes from Anna Yamamaya:
Also, if you’re attacked by an animal or are frightened by it, the animal most likely represents your shadow animal totem.
About the baby animals, I don’t think children should be taken literally. It all depends how the dream environment and animal presents itself. For example, if you dreamed that you were pregnant with a jaguar cub, it could mean that your jaguar energy is awakening. Baby animals can represent new energy from that animal rising within you.

Taking Care Of Your Crystals, So They Can Take Care of You
By Karen
Crystals have the natural ability to absorb and release energy. They absorb energy from everyone who has handled them, from their surrounding environment and from our bodies when we use them for healing. Crystals also release energies which calm our mind, heal our body and enlighten and attune our spirit. They enhance meditation, attract abundance and offer protection. This is all done by their ability to vibrate at different frequencies.
In order to maintain a healthy vibration from our crystals, we must cleanse away these absorbed energies. Failing to do so will leave your crystals less effective and may pass on unpleasant energies or imbalances. If you are using crystals for their healing properties, the already absorbed energies will act as a barricade, not allowing the healing vibrations to be released.
Crystals need cleansing regularly, preferably after each use if used for healing. If they are used for a decorative function, you can clean then weekly or monthly. A good indication of when a crystal needs cleansing is when they have lost their sparkle or brightness. After a while you will also ‘feel’ when your crystals need cleansing, as they will intuitively let you know. Newly purchased crystals must always be cleansed prior to your use, as they have an energetic imprint from everyone who has handle them.
Once you have cleansed a new crystal you can then dedicate it. Dedication is the conscious ‘willing’ for the crystal to be used for the highest good. Simply hold it in your hand and clearly state that this crystal will only be used in love and light, for the highest good. This process focuses the intention that the crystal will be used positively.
After the dedication, you can them move on to programming your crystal. Programming tunes the crystal into your own vibration, plus clearly identifies what you will be using that particular crystal for. Spend some quiet time connecting with your crystal through all of your senses (except taste as some crystals are toxic). Gaze into it, notice how the light hits it, what colors are within the crystal. Hold it, how does it feel in your hands, against your skin. Now close your eyes and feel it. Hold it to your ear, can you hear its vibrations?
Once you feel connected to your new crystals, you can then clearly state what it is you would like the crystal to do. Use precise intentions to avoid confusion and keep your mind focused. Imagine this going deep within your crystal. Continue for 5 to 10 minutes, or until you feel that the programming is complete. This process can be repeated over the next few weeks to re-enforce your connection with the crystal and its programming.
How to cleanse your crystals
There are many different ways to cleanse your newly purchased crystals or one you have had for a while. However, it is important to know that not all methods are suitable for every crystal. Some crystals break down in water, lose their luster from salt, or dull in the sun. Which ever method you use, it is important to hold the thought that the old, stagnant energies are being removed. The following are different methods which can be used to cleanse your crystals. You do not need to use all of them at the same time, however trying each method allows you to find the one best suited for your crystals, and your preference.
Running Water
Securely hold your crystal under running water for a few minutes. You can use the kitchen sink, or a fresh water stream. This method is also good for removing dust and dirt, but not recommended for soft or water-soluble stones. Allow your crystals to dry naturally in sunlight.
Sunlight
Place crystals in the sunlight for 30 minutes. Taking a precaution that quartz can magnify the sun’s rays and can be a fire hazard. Light colored crystals, such as Amethyst and Citrine will fade in prolonged periods of sunlight.
Moonlight
Place crystals in the light of the full moon, either on a windowsill or outside. Some people use the moonlight from the day prior through to the day after a full moon.
Smudging with White Sage
The smoke from sage is believed to drive away negative thoughts, energies, spirits and influences. In theory, the smoke attaches itself to negative/unwanted energies and as the smoke clears it takes the energies with it, releasing it into another space where it will be regenerated into positive energy. Carefully light some sage, let burn for a few seconds then blow out. Pass your crystal over the smoke several times. Extinguish smoldering sage in water.
Sea Salt
Place some sea salt in a bowl then bury your crystals into the salt for 24 hours. This method is suitable for soft crystals, but is not recommended for polished crystals as the salt will scratch the surface. Alternatively, you can make a mixture of sea salt and water to submerge your crystals in for 24 hours. Rinse afterward to remove the salt residue. This method is not recommended for soft or water-soluble stones.
Crystals
There are several crystals that have the ability to cleanse other crystals. You can place a crystal on an Amethyst or Clear Quartz cluster or geode. Citrine and Carnelian also have the ability to remove unwanted energies from other crystals. Keep in mind though that the crystals you use to cleanse other crystals will need cleansing themselves. With one of these methods
Earth
You can also bury your crystals in earth and leave there for a complete cycle of the moon. Bury on the full moon, unearth on the new moon.
Breath
Hold your crystal in your hands and gently blow on it while holding the thought that your breath is blowing away any and all energies that have been absorbed.
Re-Energizing
After you have cleansed your crystals, you will need to re-energize them. This can be done by placing them in sunlight for 30 minutes or in the light of the full moon, or on a Clear Quartz cluster. It is also helpful to spend a few minutes re-enforcing your program for that crystal.

Notes from Anna Yamamaya:
Never put the following under sunlight for long periods of time:
- Aventurine
- Amethyst
- Aquamarine
- Beryl
- Citrine
- Fluorite
- Kunzite
- Rose Quartz
- Sapphires
- Smokey Quartz
Water-soluble stones (list may be inaccurate since compiled from opinions):
- Amber
- Angelite
- Kyanite
- Lepidolite
- Selenite
- Stibnite
- Stilbite
- Tourmaline
- Vandanite
- Any stone created by sedimentation or resin. Also if flakes apart.
Also, if you own sterling silver jewlery, do not place it in ocean water, salt water, or even chlorine water because it’ll tarnish.
